American Hazelnut (Corylus americana) is a native nut tree that is native to the eastern half of North America, including the South. These trees are grown from southern seed sources. American hazlenut has been cultivated in at least the 1700's. The hazelnut itself tastes great. The tree is adapted to our climate, and it is tolerant of shade. It is easy to grow and will establish thickets if left to its own devices. Hazelnut trees produce best in full sun in well drained soil. These trees are 2-3' tall and ship in January 2024.
