Ayers is an old southern variety that still graces old home sites throughout the southern US. Heat and drought resistant once established. Very sweet flavor right off the tree. Disease resistant and vigorous tree. Yellow fruit with a red blush. Easy to grow. Needs cross pollination with another pear variety for best fruit set (such as Bartlett, Kieffer, Orient, Pineapple, or wild pear). 400 chill hours. Zones 6-8.
