Cherry Trees

Cherry Trees

There are two types of cherry trees: sweet and sour. Sour cherries tend to do better in the southern states. Sweet cherries can be eaten fresh from the tree, while sour cherries are often eaten cooked with sugar, and used in pies and preserves.

Please be aware that manyt sweet cherry varieties do poorly in the South. They grow and produce better in the northern part of the country. Cherry trees are popular throughout the country for their sweet, juicy fruit. California, Oregon, and Washington are the top producing cherry states in the US. Cherries generally do well where winters are colder, and summers are not as hot.
