The Hachiya persimmon is a high-quality astringent variety. When ripe and soft, the Hachiya has a rich, sweet flavor. The fruit is dried in Asia, and tastes great! Must be allowed to ripen on the tree, or picked before fully ripe, and allowed to ripen inside. Vigorous tree. Seedless fruit. Plant with another astringent variety for best results; avoid planting with Fuyu. 100-200 chill hours. Zones 6-10.
