Honeycrisp is a popular apple variety that was officially released by the University of Minnesota after years of research in 1991. It is increasingly popular as a commercial variety and is prized for its large size, tartness, sweetness, and crispness. Honeycrisp ripens in late September and is a great pollinator for other apple trees. It requires 800 chill hours to set fruit. It grows best in USDA Zones 4-8. Pollinate with Enterprise dwarf, Fuji, Gala, Granny Smith, Jonathan, Pink Lady, Red Delicious, Mollies Delicious, Southern crabapple.
