The Sam Houston peach tree was developed by Texas A&M. Requiring only 500 chill hours, the Sam Houston peach is an excellent choice for the southern part of USDA Zone 8 and all of zone 9. The blooms are fragrant and the peaches are yellow-fleshed, juicy and sweet. Ripens in June. Sam Houston peaches are freestone and have a small pit. Like other peach trees, they are self-fertile. Sam Houston is one of our most popular peach trees.
