Product Details

Wild apple (Malus pumila or Malus sylvestris) is native to Europe but naturalized in the U.S. It is spread throughout the eastern part of North America, including states in the southern U.S. Wild apple is sometimes called Paradise apple, common apple, or European apple. Wild apple trees produce a medium-sized red and green fruit that is firm and sweet. Wildlife of all types consume the fruit. Produces best when planted in proximity to another apple tree. Ripens in July-August, depending on the genetics of the tree. This is NOT a crab apple...it will be a full-size sweet apple. Chill hour requirement is approximately 600-1000. These seedlings are 2' tall.

This is the type of apple tree that "Johnny Appleseed" planted in the late 1700s!
